On my health journey, I discovered I have a mutation of the MTHFR and COMT gene.

Initially, this explained why I experienced anxiety, migraines, and hormonal imbalance coming off 15+ years of taking birth control.

I did what I learned in functional medicine: took methylated B vitamins, magnesium, and ate all the right foods.

The hormonal imbalances improved with seed cycling and other foods. But even though I did all these things, I still continued to have anxiety and migraines.

I also did over 5 years of personal development and mindset work at the same time. One day the work paid off and it finally it all come together.

I recognized was that my body was in a chronic survival mode.

I was in a sympathetic state for many, many years just because of all the pressure I was putting on myself to:

  • Be perfect
  • Feel like I was good enough
  • Prove my worth
  • Make others happy

I realized that deep down inside…I wasn’t happy.

I discovered that the happiness, fulfillment, and peace I was seeking was not outside of me, it was within me.

Once I recognized that, I started to shift my perspective, change my beliefs, and break old patterns that weren’t serving me.

After doing the inner work, my body returned to a parasympathetic state, a calm, rest and digest state or flow state.

That’s when I was finally able to overcome the anxiety and migraines.

To summarize, you can…

  • Eat the right food
  • Do all the exercise programs
  • Take all the supplements
  • Meditate

All these may help you feel better.

But if you don’t work do the inner work and calm your body to get back into that flow state, parasympathetic state, you may not completely heal.
